Wide Reach, Solid Results
The Philadelphia Reads' Book Bank is located at Martin Luther King High School, 6100 Stenton Avenue, Philadelphia. Hundreds of businesses, congregations and civic groups across the region support the Children’s Book Bank by holding book drives each year.
520 educators used the Book Bank in the 2008-2009 school year. They report their classroom libraries grew from an average of 141 books to 228 books, and rose dramatically in literary and physical quality. Three-quarters said their students spent more time reading independently once they got new books from the Book Bank.
